Unibank Branch Renovation
Location: Uxbridge, MA
Client: UniBank
Architect: DRL Architects
In 2020, Madigan renovated the UniBank branch located in Uxbridge, MA. The bank is in a historic building, one of the first in the region. Phasing the work to avoid disruption of bank activities, we renovated the entire branch and main floor offices, including updating all finishes and modifying floor plans and partitions. The project included replacing all decorative light fixtures, adding data lines and connectivity to the existing offices, and installing a decorative fireplace in the lobby sitting area. We replaced the teller line with two custom built pods providing 4 teller stations and opening a view to the historic vault located in the lobby and adding custom barn doors for access.
This project overcame COVID-19 shutdowns and supply chain disruptions. It also involved significant coordination with the bank to allow UniBank to stay open through construction. The teller pods were installed one at a time maintaining half the teller line for customers. Work in the staircase, lobby and hallways required temporary walkways to allow customer access while flooring and painting were completed. The completed project highlights the historic character of the building and makes numerous nods to the history of the town, while bringing in modern design elements and increasing function and comfort for the customers.
