Built on Tradition
A lot has changed over the last eight decades – both at Madigan and in the world – but we stand by our evergreen principles. Hard work, dedicated service and quality construction is how Madigan made its mark in Central Massachusetts from day one, back in 1937. While advancing technology and new tools and materials continually evolve our processes, these core values have guided us ever since.
Honoring Our History
As a fourth-generation, family-owned and operated construction company, our firm has come a long way from its humble origins of Frank Madigan and a single pickup truck. Our Worcester, MA based team has grown, and we’ve diversified from our public sector roots to help businesses, colleges, manufacturers, private schools, nonprofits, religious organizations and more – all across the Northeast. After spending 15 years building the foundation for the business, Frank welcomed his son Bud to the team in 1953, igniting a period of major growth for our firm. We started crossing state borders to serve municipalities and private clients throughout New England. In the late 1970’s/early 1980’s after learning the business firsthand from their father, Bud’s sons Fran and Jim, alongside their father, participated in the next level of Madigan growth and geographic expansion. Under Bud’s leadership, the years that followed were the time of a strategic shift away from public-sector work to the more collaborative private sector, where the three Madigans felt that they could provide the most value.
Building Relationships
As the 1990’s turned into the 2000’s, Fran and Jim took over leadership upon Bud’s retirement. The relationships with subcontractors and regional business leaders, forged by Bud, provided a firm footing on which Fran and Jim began their leadership of the company. Fran and Jim learned the importance of having a great team of craftsmen and subcontractors to ensure the ultimate success of each and every project. They placed the same level of emphasis on taking care of employees and subcontractors as they do taking care of clients. It is this family and team approach that is the most significant differentiator of our company from others. Under Fran and Jim’s leadership, the company’s geographic reach has expanded beyond New England, and our client base has increased in size. However, repeat clients still make up most of our client list.
Building for the Future
The latest generation of Madigan family members to carry on the tradition are Fran’s sons, Andrew and Brendan, who are helping us to stay on the forefront of innovative, quality construction, guided by an elevated approach to customer care that’s been thoughtfully refined over 85 years. Our rich history prepares the Madigan team to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing field and to consistently provide our clients the best the industry has to offer, with a personal touch. We don’t let our deep experience keep us from learning and evolving; we believe the best is yet to come.
