Joy of Music New Concert Hall
Location: Worcester, MA
Client: Joy of Music
Architect: David J. Krom Associates
In 2015, Madigan was awarded the contract to construct the 200-seat Joseph and Jordan Shapiro Concert Hall at the Joy of Music Program (JOMP) in Worcester, MA. JOMP provides young children a joyful and solid foundation for life-long musical growth. This community service organization had outgrown its previous space and needed to expand. We worked together with JOMP and the design team to provide them with a first-class concert hall that will serve them for years to come. In the words of Wendy Ardizzone, JOMP’s Director:
Madigan provided tremendous energy, integrity and professionalism throughout the project. Shapiro Hall is aesthetically beautiful and acoustically marvelous.”
The major challenges of the project included restricted access to the site, structural conditions of the existing building that needed upgrading, discovered during the demolition phase, and keeping the children and all users of the facility safe from the hazards of a construction site. We proudly list our experience with JOMP as one of the best and most fulfilling in recent memory.
