Giving Back

Throughout our long history, Madigan has always made an effort to give back to the local community as all four generations of the Madigan Family, along with many of our employees, have grown up in Central Massachusetts. We have always understood the value that this community can bring to its residents, and when possible we give back to our community through various philanthropic efforts, initiatives, and organizations.

Whether it be our annual company-wide build-day with Habitat for Humanity, coat donation drives when the weather is getting cold, or even putting together care packages for our own employees who are deployed overseas, Madigan knows the positive impact that we've helped build in the community.

Habitat for Humanity Metro West/Greater Worcester

Madigan regularly participates in Build Days in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity Metro West/Greater Worcester. We have worked on homes in Worcester, Auburn and Holliston. Our team is always excited to be able to put our construction knowledge and skills to work and we are proud that our office team always makes a tremendous showing at these builds! We helped build Habitat’s Re-Store in Worcester, providing both labor and materials to this wonderful program.

Blanket and Coat Drive

During the holiday season, Madigan sponsors a coat drive, to collect and distribute coats, outerwear and sleeping bags to those in need. Our team members know that we are fortunate and that we have a responsibility to give back to the communities in which we live and work. Past recipients of the coat drive have been The Worcester Mustard Seed, Abby’s House, and Net of Compassion.

Girls Inc. of Worcester

Madigan has supported Girls Inc. of Worcester, a nonprofit whose mission is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold. We have participated in a STEM & Leadership program known as Eureka! Our team members have participated in Woman in Construction Career nights and the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Blockids program, in which we have put together hands-on workstations which demonstrate the exciting careers available for women in our field, hoping to inspire young female minds to enter the world of construction!

St. John's High School

Madigan prides itself on being a family business, and when it comes to our company, those two words are nearly interchangeable: family and business. The Madigan Family and Madigan Business have both had longstanding relationships with St. John's High School. It all started in 1961 when Madigan was called upon by St. John's to build the Brothers' Residence and the Academic Wing Building. The Xaverian Brothers planned to move from their downtown Worcester building, at the St. John's Parish, to begin providing education for young men on their expansive new Shrewsbury campus. As a result of the close ties that developed, and respect for the mission and the outstanding Xaverian Brothers education, Bud and Mary sent their two sons, Fran and Jim, to attend St. John's, and they also established the Madigan Family Scholarship Fund. Through the years, Fran and Jim  have continued to contribute to this fund (in addition to other philanthropic support of the school) and they also sent their sons to St. John's. Today, the Madigan Family Scholarship Fund provides the opportunity for a young man of Worcester, who otherwise would not be financially able to attend the school, to be provided with a St. John's education. Recently, the Madigan Family Engineering Classroom was dedicated. It is a makerspace, robotics center and 3-D printing lab where students are introduced to the amazing possibilities of using their imagination.
